Message from IES School Administrators

Aahsaopi Elementary School. (Grades K4-5)

With great excitement and anticipation, we eagerly await the commencement of the new school year 2024/25 at our state-of-the-art 21st-century school! There is much excitement as our school's new name is Issoitapi Elementary School (named after the community). We have gratefully inhabited our current school since September 1991!

We Implement 'our way of life' into the curriculum and lesson plans with Blackfoot language/culture classrooms and learning spaces and have Elders in Residence. We offer Blackfoot ways - Heritage through My Hands, Indian Summer, Circle Time, and Land base curriculum and Blackfoot site fieldtrips. In addition, we also offer:

Parent involvement: Parent/Teacher Interviews, Open House, Parent Conference, incentives, etc.

  • Student Learning Success supports ie. RTI, Intervention mtg, school base mtg, school counselling, mental health, Strengthening Families.
  • School activities: holiday celebrations, Talent Show, health/dental, special events pertaining to FNMI issues, etc.
  • Literacy Week - library book and swag bag for each of our students, different themes in literacy, author visit/presentation, book fair, swag bag, Blackfoot knowledge, literacy powwow, etc.
  • 2 Numeracy Days - math games, art, Travelling Lab coats, STEM, etc.
    Month/Year-end Awards and Celebrations, Boys and Girls Clubs, Runner $ for students and Horse Therapy, and our Bike Rodeo
    Grade 5 and K5 students Honor Day & Gr.5 Transition Day
  • Sports camps; lacrosse, basketball, cross country run, track and field, etc.
  • A few new experiences: Cafeteria-Breakfast & Lunch, Theatre, musicals
