Oki

My name is Donna Soldier and I have enjoyed working with the Kainai Board of Education for the past 25 years. I am currently the Associate Principal/Learning Support Teacher for the Issoitapi Elementary School.

I received my Bachelor of Education degree at the Brandon University in Brandon, MB. (I taught in Manitoba for 3 years) and I have a master’s degree in special education from Sinte Galeska University in Rosebud, South Dakota. I am currently on my 4th year of M.Ed. Interdisciplinary studies – Educational Research (Blackfoot Ways of Knowing) with the University of Calgary in Calgary, AB.

I have training in Secretarial Science, and I am also a certified hairdresser.

I enjoy working with children of all ages, I try to inspire their minds to be the best they can be.  I also advocate for the children that need the support for learning.  I believe that every child matters and every child has a right to an education.

I have been married to my husband Elmer for 45 years.  Together we lived in Manitoba for 18 years and moved back to Alberta in the new millennium.  I have three grown children and three grandchildren and many others that I take as my own. I love supporting my grandchildren and children in the sports they play and encourage them to be the best they can.

I have many hobbies, I enjoy playing pool, golfing, camping, sewing, photography, and travelling.  I love learning new things and often sign up for webinars or even taking classes at the university or college.
